Fundraising Overview

Each year the teams undertake the task of collecting further sponsorship (over and above the mandatory registration fee) for PADDLEforCANCER. 

This year we are going to reward these efforts by inviting all teams to participate in the Fundraisers’ Challenge Cup taking place before and during the main PADDLEforCANCER event on Sunday 5th September 2010 at L’Abbaye, Lac du Joux.

In 2009, the Dragon Divas and the Divas and Dons teams raised over 10,000 CHF! Other teams such as Cargill, UK Mission, AIC/AIWC, Pugwash and others also raised above and beyond their registration fees!

The Challenge

Teams will compete against each other with the support of their colleagues, families and friends to become the 2010 champion fundraisers’ and thus take away this years' Fundraisers’ Challenge Cup!

Our target goal of CHF 30’000 will benefit:

• Paediatric Oncology HUG Geneva
  Seven laptops, one for each patient room of the MED-A1 paediatric unit. This will help entertain very young and older children hospitalised in this unit.

• Paediatric Oncology CHUV Lausanne
  

• ESCA Counselling Fund
  Funds will help cover costs of professional counselling for patients and family members whose insurance does not cover these expenses.

The Game – ‘Guess our finishing time’

Because we know how busy you are, we have taken the liberty of creating an easy, fun way for your colleagues, families and friends to support your efforts

• Sponsors pay an amount determined by the team to enter the game and guess the team’s best race time for 2010. The sponsor confirms their guess by writing their name in the appropriate time square along with the time. The sponsor, whose guess is the closest to the team’s best race time, wins a prize.

How to participate in the Fundraisers’ Challenge Cup

Select a Fundraiser Challenge Cup Captain for your team and register with Penny pross@bluewin.ch by email providing the following information:

1. Team Goal – This is the amount of money you aim to raise.
2. Amount raised – This will be updated weekly as and when you raise sponsorship.  Penny will contact you via email for regular updates.

When does the challenge begin?

The challenge begins: Now! After registering your team, download either the Game Sheet or the Fundraising Form.

The challenge ends: 15h00 on Sunday 5th September 2010 at L’Abbaye, Lac du Joux.

Good news is you will still have time throughout the day to increase your chances of winning the Fundraisers’ Challenge Cup. Who knows you may have colleagues, family and friends who haven’t been able to donate before but who will be present on the day and would be happy to contribute to your success.

Pre-event

We recommend depositing all donations collected before 30th August onto the ESCA account using the following banking details :

This way team captains can avoid having large sums of money on-site. Don’t forget to bring your bank receipts with you so as they can be registered against your team name just in case we haven’t yet received confirmation from our bank.

On the day

On the day, have your Fundraisers’ Challenge Captain check in with the onsite challenge team in the Information tent between 08h00 and 09h00 so as any additional donations can be updated before the races begin at 09h00.  Donations can be added to your team by anyone at any time throughout the day between 09h00 and the cut-off time at 15h00.

Remember …
If each paddler collects just Chf 50 in sponsorship, that means Chf 1000 towards this year’s projects!  So get your thinking caps on - this year is World Cup Soccer year – let it inspire you - we’re sure you are all full of great ideas!
